You Were Worried?!

I have a confession. The 5-10 minute drive to a session are the most terrifying of my day. Making my mental check list of all the things I need to remember to do and praying that there isn't one thing that is left off the list. Saying all the prayers that I can say for courage, peace, and communication. All the while jamming out to help pump me up. Some shoots aren't as bad as others. However, this one was nerve-racking.

Honestly, I don't know why. I have always enjoyed my time with Alex. I enjoy the conversations that we have and her thought provoking questions. It makes my heart happy the way that she sees injustices and speaks on their behalf. I love that she embraces all kinds of kinds and is genuinely a curious person.

Regardless of all of those things, I sat in my car and worried. Worried that my style would not match hers. Worried that she wouldn't enjoy the session. Worried that we wouldn't have the connection we did when she was a student of mine. I worried, until I saw their car pull up and she was waving before she even got out.

Spending time with this young lady is something that I often look forward to. I look forward to hearing how well school is going. I look forward to hearing her plans on her future. I look forward to those brief moments when she breaks out into uncontrollable giggles. I look forward to seeing Alex, so why in the world was I so worried?!

I still don't know, but what I will tell you is that once I got out of the car it all went away. We instantly picked up where we left off and I can only pray that she enjoyed this session as much as I did. Alex is, and always has been, such a unique young lady. She will be starting college in the fall and I can't wait to catch up with her a year from now and see how her first year of college went.

Happy Monday, friends.
