The Year of the Dog

Technically it is the year of the rat, but I haven't yet photographed a rat...so dogs it is.

As most of you know, I have two sweet pups. Fen and Jen. Fen is a sweet German Shepard that will be 8 this year. She loves to let us know when there's someone in the alley, when someones walking down the street, when a squirrel is present, or when a leaf has fallen. She's an active pup that loves to go on long walks and will always stop for a good scratch. Jenny I have had since college. She was old then, and that was ten years ago. She is the definition of spunky and oh so stubborn. She is loyal, loving, and loves a good nap. They make our home incredibly entertaining.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a dog. I grew up with Kena, the Australian Shepard, and Vixen, another German Shepard. Both were such sweet dogs and were such a huge part of my childhood. Hemi, Jaxon, Steve, Maude, Kuzco...dogs are always in our family. Most of these have been adopted. Which is why I have such a soft spot for shelters. I know they can't always make ends meet and I want to help however I can. Time, monetarily, blankets, food, the littlest things can go the furthest.

Last year, between the Pawsitively Patriotic Campaign & the Canine Christmas Campaign, over $700 was donated to the Lone Star Sanctuary! That is huge! I cannot say thank you enough for participating! I love dogs, I love taking pictures, so getting to take pictures of dogs to help others...it's just perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so excited to see what this year brings for the dogs...you know, in the year of the dog!
